Baptism... One week later
Well, she was beautiful (and still is!) and funny and in a very good mood on the day of her baptism. It was the morning after the time change... 5 am wake up call! It meant that she napped before church which was really good, she was happy.
The sermon was very personalized which was nice. David (our priest) talked about looking into the face of your newborn child and how that was "blessing the child". When we see the face of God it is a blessing. It was a good sermon and I should not even try to paraphrase!
Audrey chirped through the whole service, especially during the sermon! She was a wiggle monster the whole time too. She literally dod not sit still for one moment!
My dad did the baptism, beautiful. He let her splash her hands in the water (I'm sure it was a strategy to keep her happy and attentive) She tried to push his hand away as he signed her with the sign of the cross... so funny. She also tried to grab the candle... over and over again... My mom held Sam up so he could see and spent a lot of time making Sam feel special. My favourite moment was when we were presenting Audrey for baptism and Sam leaned over from Chris' arms and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I love my little boy!!
Chris' parents nipped back to our house early and got all the nibblies ready for our little after party. Really nice of them to do especially since Chris' mom was ill :( Audrey slept for most of the party! Sam was having fun with his cousins and friends. The afternoon was nice. Bram and Chris took pictures and our friend Wes took a video. The DVD is now available!
My parents left right after the party, back to Ontario. Sam was quite sad. They'll be back in a month for Audrey's surgery.
I feel good now that Audrey has her "fire insurance". Maybe this is a step towards enjoying St. M's again.

Hi Ruth - haven't been on the blogs for a while. Sounds like you had a wonderful time at her baptism - how special that your dad could take part in the baptism. My husband baptised our two kids a year ago and it was an amazing - a picture of passing down the traditions of our faith from one generation to the other. It also sounds like you felt some sense of community at your church - hope it grows!!
